For Whom the Bell Tolls @ MFAH

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston unrolls a restored print of For Whom the Bell Tolls on Monday, April 27 at 7 pm. A version on Amazon lists 170 minutes as the running time but even high-def television pales in comparison to a Technicolor print when properly projected on a big screen
From the museum's press release:
"The film was cut still further when it was reissued in 1947; and this abridged version, running just over two hours, has been the only version of For Whom the Bell Tolls available for many years. As this is written, we are trying to restore this flawed but still impressive film to its original form. The version presented in this series will run at least 157 minutes and include an overture and intermission, the longest version of or Whom the Bell Tolls to be seen since 1943."
